It’s that time of the year again! The 38th annual NANOS meeting will be held on February 11-16 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa, San Antonio, Texas.

Some important deadlines are:

This month’s case was put on the Canadian neuro-ophthalmology site.

A 24 -year old man presented with a history of poor vision since childhood. He had history of amblyopia and strabismus surgery. Family history was positive for nystagmus. His best-corrected visual acuity was 20/80 OD and 20/70 OS. Manifest refraction was +5.50 +1.75 x 110 OD and +4.50 +2.00 x 80 OS. Pupils were briskly reactive OU with no afferent pupillary defect. He had horizontal jerk nystagmus which was equal in amplitude and similar in all gaze direction. Anterior segment examination showed iris transillumination defects. Fundus examination is shown.

New case of the month added!

The American College of Ophthalmic Surgery is holding their annual symposium from July 28 – 31, this is followed by the International Congress on Surface Ablation, Femto-Lasers, & Cross-Linking from July 31 – August 1, 2011. Both meetings will be held at the St. Regis Hotel in Dear Valley, Utah.

This is an early reminder for the annual AAO 2011 meeting to be held in Orlando from october 22-25.

I would like to suggest a good N-O book: The Neuro-Ophthalmology Survival Guide. I think its a very good book (for residents) that explains how to evaluate N-O patients. Keep in mind though  there’s not much theory, anatomy or patho-physiology in it .
